With a desire to create a cozy, lived-in and welcoming home, the owner/ builder renovated this 1928 home in 2023. The full renovation included an open kitchen/ living plan that afforded a view of their kids playing in the backyard.

The owners love the way the interior spaces (especially the kitchen and living areas) flow out to the porch and backyard. A favorite touch is the swooped rooflines visible from the back of the house.

The entire design & construction team lives in Virginia-Highland/ Morningside, which made it more special to the owners. They love the community and describe it as”like living in a small town in the middle of a big city.”

From the corner of North Highland and Virginia Ave, head north on North Highland Avenue. Turn right onto McLynn Ave. Turn left onto Avalon Place. 1274 will be the second house on your left. This is about a 15 min walk (0.7 mile).
